With cold and flu season underway, supporting your immune system is a must. What better way than with an easy, make-ahead tonic you can keep in the fridge and sip daily for anti-inflammatory and immune benefits? Read below for the recipe!
Star ingredients:
1 tbsp of organic turmeric powder
2 1-inch pieces of peeled ginger
1/4 cup of raw honey
4 oranges, peeled
4 lemons, peeled
1 tbsp of dried oregano
1 tsp of black pepper
5-6 cups of filtered water
Instructions:
Remove the skin from your oranges and lemons, getting rid of the white rind also and only leaving the pulp
Slice your oranges and lemons and add them to a blender
Cut your ginger into 2 1-inch thick pieces
Remove the skin form your ginger pieces and add them to the blender
Add 1 tbsp of turmeric to the blender
Add 1/4 cup of raw honey to the blender
Add 1 tbsp of dried oregano to the blender
Add 1 tsp of black pepper to the blender
Add 2-3 cups of water to the blender
Blend on HIGH (I use a Vitamix on setting 9) for about 3 minutes or until fully smooth
Slowly strain your mixture into a bowl with a mesh and spoon, pressing to make sure you get as much of the mixture (without getting pulp of ginger pieces to your drink!)
Pour your thick, strained mixture into a glass container
Add about 3 more cups of filtered water to dilute mixture
Store in your fridge for up to 7 days
Enjoy!
